Dothan Brook School Music

All students  will attend a 45 minute general music class once a week to develop vocal tone and good instrument practice on xylophones, recorders, ukuleles, and a variety of auxiliary percussion.

In grades K-2, students will be focusing on steady beat, fast and slow, quiet and loud, rhythm, improvisation, and expression. They will be exposed to a variety of music styles and types in order to grow their understanding and ability.

In grades 3-5, students will be studying composers from different time periods, ensemble playing, rounds, steady beat, improvisation, composition, and music theory.

In graders 4-5, students will have multiple opportunities to participate in performing ensembles outside of music class. For more information, please click the group you and your child are interested in.

Each student is given the opportunity to perform a minimum of twice a year at our Winter and Spring Concerts. All students are expected to perform.
